The Planning and Design department is currently seeking a full time Statutory Planner to support the team. As a Statutory Planner, reporting to the Statutory Planning Team Leader, you will deliver first class planning outcomes through the provision of well-considered and consistent Statutory Planning services including decision making, processing, advocacy and general advice.

You will be charged with managing minor developments as well as undertaking general statutory planning duties.

As the successful applicant you will have: 

  • A degree in Statutory Town Planning, or relevant qualifications/experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the accurate, timely and cost effective processing of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use planning applications.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at one time while paying strict attention to detail. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Effective negotiation, problem solving and presentation skills

  • Experience using systems such as Objective, MERIT, Property & Rating Application Management or similar. 

The following would be highly desirable:

  • Accreditation with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).

  • Membership to the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) or Victorian Planning and Environmental Law association (VPELA).

The preferred applicant may be required to undertake practical testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
